How do you tell if a lesbian is flirting with you?

When lesbians flirt, the exact way they do it depends greatly on the person. Of course, it could be bisexual girls flirting, or one bisexual and one lesbian. Basically it has to be two females, yes? (Unless you know for sure that they're both lesbians.) Well, I know when I flirt with another girl, I usually:

• smile a lot
• play with my hair
• stand or sit fairly close to her and lean slightly towards her
• bite my lip a little if she asks me a "what do you think about...?" type of question
• laugh at her jokes
• lock eye contact
• wind up glancing (or staring) at her lips at some point
• compliment her (tell her I like her shirt, or her hair looks good, et cetera)

Those are the pretty much definite things. If I'm feeling bold, I might:

• compliment her. this is different from the aforementioned one because it takes the compliments a step further (complimenting her eyes, telling her I think she's pretty, saying something (usually a somewhat scanty article of clothing) looks good on her, et cetera)
• pretend her hair is messed up and fix it for her (body contact)
• pretend there's something on her shoulder or her sleeve (like fuzz or a string) and gently dust it off (and quickly drop the fake dust on the floor to hide that it wasn't really there!)
• hopefully ask if I'll see her again soon. this is tricky, though, because when both people know they're flirting, it's obvious, but if only one does, it might seem like a friendly question.

Those are just some ways that two girls might flirt. One of my friends always blushes against her will when she flirts with another girl, and sometimes she stutters. Another friend fidgets with something like her watch or bracelet - sometimes she even spins her stud earrings. (It might seem like she's bored, but she's actually nervous!)

Body contact is usually a sign of flirting. I have a straight girlfriend who knows that I'm bi, and whenever we see each other but can't stop to talk, we poke each other in the side or the stomach. We both know that either person's poke is playful, but she also knows that sometimes I do that when I'm flirting with my close girlfriends (I can't help it - those two are so cute!). Depending on how well they know each other, it might be something friendly like that, or it could also be something that's much more of a definitive flirting technique, like a hug.

Now... the hug is a very dangerous topic no matter what gender the two people "flirting" are. Hugs can be friendly. They might be loving, or apologetic. When the hug leaves friendly territory and turns into more of an intimate thing, a few things might happen. First of all, if a hug takes long enough for you to have time to think, "Okay... this is a pretty long hug..." and it's not an apologetic, or "I missed you!", or "I'll miss you!", et cetera type of hug (basically, if you thought it was a friendly hug and it takes that long), it's most likely a flirting hug. Secondly - and this depends on the hugger - if someone who generally gives gentle hugs, where you don't really feel like they're even trying to hug you back, hugs you tightly, it's most likely a more-than-just-friendly hug. If hands roam in a hug, chances are you're with someone who was flirting with you (or will be).

alot of touching and wanting to go places together.. and complaining about beiung single all the time. i know through personal experiancne :S [Excessive touching is a MAJOR indicator, but that's not very subtle, now is it?

Smiling, narrowing eyes, and standing a little closer then you normally would with someone are also pretty tell tale. Laughing at jokes that really aren't THAT funny is another way, if they're femme.

General teasing is another way, but be careful with the teasing, because sometimes it really does mean they're not fond of you.

A lot of eye contact, compliments, and body language.

Basically, in my experience, if it appears that they might be flirting with you, they probably are.

...My personal favorite is the shoulder bite and belt loop tug, but I'm not very subtle. =p]

She will be very in tune with everything you do. Look you in the eyes a lot and possibly be very touchy , feely. Eye contact is a big indicator. Like constant eye contact. Playful, gentle and compliment you a lot also
