No one can really say just exactly what it is about the letter J but many or maybe even most will agree that it seems to be the letter J that fosters so many words gone bad. There are some that say that the letter J has nothing to do with it and all words are written with free will and can chose whether to be good or to be bad but any word who ever said that never really knew Jerk. Jerk was...well, a jerk. From the very beginning, even before the word was used to describe fools and knaves, Jerk was...well, a fool, a knave. Describing the spastic movements of things was not enough for Jerk who had to always be the center of the lexicon. Not that Jerk ever had anything interesting to say, and for a word, Jerk was rather illiterate. Not that any other word, not even words such as scientist or doctor, ever suspected the root cause of Jerks bad behavior might be genetic, germane to the letter J.

Jackass was another word that was nothing but bad from page one. Braying and blustering like some stubborn donkey Jackass was prone to arguing with all the other words and in particular always arguing with Jerk. These two words were some very bad words, and it was fortunate they never got along too well as they might have conspired to work together in their evil machinations and the lexicon would be a more dangerous place because of it. Jackass has gone so bad he's not allowed in to play with any words any more and is forced to lay off to the side of the page and sulk like a brooding beast of burden. No word ever dares turn their back on Jackass or even Jerk for fear of what these two words might do.

Jaded, Junk, juvenile, jab, jackal, Jungian, jealous, Janus, jalopy, and Judas are all examples of words that have been bad at times and it is because so many of these bad words were words that started with the letter J that finally Politician, and Statesman, Judge and Enforcer all began campaigning to have the letter J removed from the letters of the lexicon. This debate still rages through the democracy of words this confederacy of lunacy as words weigh in on the value of life and what rights words have and who grants words these rights and all the stuff of politics in a politicized language that struggles to communicate ideas and thoughts. To just remove the letter J would be tantamount to just removing air from the sky. These words may be bad but they are words! Even the word Janitor has his worth. It is true that of late Janitor is a word that, while not bad, has become undesirable. It is not politically correct to use Janitor and so the word Custodian has gained more popularity of late. Nothing against Custodian who is very likable but Janitors a great word, and deserves more credit than he gets. Janitor is nothing like Jerk or Jackass, and it is words like Janitor and Justice and Jovial who should be celebrated as heroes of the lexicon instead of the outlaws like Jerk and Jackass.
