Mexico grows a lot of sorghum, beans, and cotton. Mexico did grow a lot of corn (Maize) then the Mexican government put price controls on corn. As a result, most Mexican farmers switched from corn to sorghum and Mexico imports corn from the United States. The use of corn for motor fuel has raised the price of tortillas for the poor in Mexico.

The most important crop would be corn, followed by wheat and rice. Soybean is also grown, but on a lesser degree. Most cereal crops are for internal consumption, but demand is so extensive that corn and wheat are imported from the United States.

Mexico also cultivates Oranges, apples, table grapes, tangerines, grapefruit, pears and raisins; followed by bananas, mangoes, lemons, limes, watermelons, peaches, nectarines, plums, avocados, pineapples, and strawberries. Most fruit grown in Mexico is exported to the United States, Europe and Japan markets during the winter season.
