Just ask the guy straight up. Unlike girls, guys think cute and creative is "weird", so don't waste your time trying to think of something creative because the guy probably won't even care.
Yeah, guys really don't care . The only reasons they do cute little things is because we do care!
If you really want to do something then talk to him online and ask if hes going with someone one.. then if he says no say ill go with you and let him respond then say when PIGS flys (you have to say when pigs fly) then the next day at school bring him his favorite candies and balloons with little pigs on them (for pigs flying)

But guys really do like it! I have three brothers, I would know! anyways.. heres my idea! Take a white shirt and write a bunch of girls names in washable markers. Then write your name in permanent ink. The boy will then have to wash the shirt to find out who asked him!
here's an idea. this is what i am doing to ask my boyfriend to turnabout. I am first having a friend give him a fortune cookie that says you have the opportunity to make someone smile everyday. Then, later that day i am going to give him a smiley face cookie and a cake that says it would really make me smile if you go to turnabout(r school dance) with me:) hope that helps! this one is not cliche btw, i came up with it myself!

"sure" seems uncaring
something more like smile.... then say it's you lucky day because the prettiest girl in school asked you to the dance ;)
or even how you say no to someone so beautifull lol
If you live in Utah or Idaho (their might be more places) people tend to do more creative things than the rest of the country.
One way I've heard that people have said yes to girls for sadies is they leave a note on their doorstep that says " Ha when pigs fly ill go to sadies with you" then right after they close the door you get a toy pig, glue wings on it, attatch it to a rod, then sortof bang it against her window a few times. and when she looks out she'll see a flying pig!

Who was Sadie Hawkins?
Sadie Hawkins was a comic strip character invented by Al Capp, the famous cartoonist, in the comic strip L'il Abner. L'il Abner was a long running strip most popular from it's inception in 1934 thru 1977. Sadie was the daughter of Hekzebiah Hawkins, a prominent citizen of Dogpatch. She had social standing but was so homely that she had no boyfriend. In the strip, Hekzebiah grew so worried that she would never leave home (and the only way in those days for a girl to leave home was to get married) that he sponsored a race. This race was for the sole purpose of marrying off Sadie. The rules were fairly simple; a gun was fired and all the bachelors of Dogpatch ran. After a head start, Sadie began her race and the object of the race was for Sadie to literally catch her husband to be. She was allowed to drag him to Marrying Sam (the two dollar preacher) and enter into wedded bliss. This race was instituted in the comic strip in 1937 and became a cultural phenomenon. Within two years, it was reported that over 200 colleges had sponsored a Sadie Hawkins Day event. Now close to 75 years later, Sadie Hawkins Day dances are still being held in many locations in the US and Canada. Sadie Hawkins Day was originally held in November, but in many locations it is a fun alternative to the Valentine's dance.
