From the pen of William Wordsworth.

Evening Ode.."My soul, though yet confined to earth,

Rejoices in a second birth."

And from Ruth.."It was a fresh and glorious world,A banner bright that was unfurled.

I looked upon those hills and plains,And seemed as if let loose from chains"

An Idiom Poemby Paul Williams

An idiom is a tyrannical and capricious thing,

So much so, that it makes logic and grammar sing.

I play for love like an April fool, I should have heeded

the mayday warning during that Indian summer

in the autumn of my life.

I couldn't see what was dawning,

the pre-cursor to winter of discontent,

the culmination of something never meant.

this struck me as being beyond reason;

then I remembered - It was the silly season.

I'd had my moments, once in a blue moon

when sex took place in my bedroom.

I'd been living in cloud-cuckoo-land

regarding love, usually with my hand.

I needed to make up for lost time,

sow my oats, reap a rich harvest

and prevent a crime

Feeling under the weather

you could have knocked me down with a feather.

It was like a bolt out of the blue, when I met you.

an English rose, in the flower of youth;

You were as brown as a berry,

I was browned-off, the eternal virgin

looking to loose his cherry.

You were dressed to kill

I was in shorts and T-shirt, looking ill

A beauty in the pink of perfection

I massaged your back and got an erection…

A David and Goliath situation,

Hobson's choice

the ultimate in frustration.

The moment of truth…I cut the Gordian Knot

and crossed the Rubicon to meet my Waterloo,

I shot my last arrow at your forbidden fruit,

it landed in the land of milk and honey,

which was really quite ironic, and rather funny.

But there was something in the wind,

it was a golden opportunity to seal our unity,

all that flesh, had we sinned?

A Pyrrhic victory...then I saw your true colours

through rose tinted spectacles.

What should have been a golden age?

Just left me filled with rage,

and became my red-letter day.

I was easy meat for you on the road to Damascus

You led me up the garden path,

my fool's paradise a dystopian dream,

the walls of Jehrico came crashing down.

Castles in the air withered on the vine.

I was nuts about a scarlet woman

with a silvery tongue, but we were

just ships in the night.

So much for the green light,

now it's raining cats and dogs

but it's not the end of the world,

It's just that the whole experience

Was too (*adjective) for words

My sweet idiom.
