Here are some facts about the Aztecs:

• Aztecs believed that blood was a special god water! Blood was the 'precious water' that the Gods needed to be fed, as a reminder of the sacrifice they made for all of Mankind.
  
• Women were only allowed to be priests if they didn't get married.
• Each Aztec home had a steam bath.
• Montezuma II's headdress was made from the feathers of over 250 birds.
• When the Aztec warriors had run out of food, they ate their dead enemies. Aztec warriors never ate dead comrades, but dead enemies were a different matter, though.
• The Aztecs buried a dead family member inside their house. Strangely enough, they were buried under their own house! This was a custom that the Aztec adopted from the Maya.
• The punishment for a poor person caught wearing clothes that only the rich were allowed to wear was to have their house demolished.
• Poor Aztec families sometimes sold their children in order to get some money. The children had to be fit and healthy to be sold though since they were expected do to a lot of hard work!
• It was against the law to be drunk in public unless you were over 70.
• It is said that the major Aztec weapon could chop off the head of a horse with one blow!
• During the symbolic sacrificing of a young child (by means of drowning), if the child cried, Aztecs believed the land would have rain.
• They made calendars and a counting system.
• They used lots of different weapons, such as the war club.
• The Aztecs were a fierce warrior nation, but they had a special love for flowers and feathers.
• At the height of its power, the Aztec Empire was organized and strong, but ruled with fear.
