Assuming you are in your mid to late 20's - aim for sharp modern style consisting of 2 consecutive layers for your torso depending on the time of year (for this we will assume its winter, so we will talk about the jackets and shirts to ensure you get a full understanding), first layer being a collared shirt or dress shirt with light colors and subtle features (such as pin stripes that are nearly visible) other subtle features may include darker buttons that bring originality and a sharp edge to the base shirt.
The reason collared shirts are good to use is because they have a professional look, sharp yet modern style and they are very flexible when applying them to other layers. The next layer is your jacket, coat, cardigan or whatever you decide to choose, mind you your second layer depends almost entirely on your current season in your country. A dark leather or dark material for your jacket is almost perfect, make sure the jacket can be opened up (zipped or unbuttoned) make sure the jacket is fairly tight as to compliment your lean, muscular youthful body (given you have one) make sure the colors of the jacket work the collared shirt. For your pants you could wear a nice pair of black Levis Jeans that look like they have been through a bit of rough and tumble, tuck your collared shirt into these jeans, (you will be wearing a jacket so only a small portion of the front of your torso has a visibly tucked in shirt), if it is a warm season I would recommend not even wearing a jacket.
With this specific clothing layout a belt is essential to complete the outfit, the only kind of belt you want to get is a brown leather belt, brown leather is very fashionable lately and people are sure to notice if you are wearing one, if you do not have one then go buy one (be generous with your money).
As for shoes, you could purchase some brown or black leather shoes to complete the outfit, just make sure the shoes you buy are not chunky or thick with large heels (you want slim shoes to match the tight jacket). As for any accessories buy a scarf if its cold where you live and wear it with this outfit, you could buy a simple ring and get yourself a short modern haircut. As for anything else I think if you walk around enough malls you can figure out the current fashion for yourself.
Links below are some examples of men wearing a collared shirt or dress shirt with the style I have just explained...
And this is some extra content to give you an idea of how I would prefer to dress I were the right age and had enough funds....
In my opinion just be yourself, wear what makes you more comfortable. That is fashion!
