Agreed, the Palm Jumeirah (as the first Palm is known as) is built on reclaimed sea; as such there are no endemic plant species, additionally there are very few naturally occurring fruit species in the United Arab Emirates.
Plant materials that can be planted are strictly regulated by Al Nakheel (the developer of the Palm Island) to prevent damage to the subsurface of the artificial island by invasive root systems.
