• If you look at a 16 inch diameter globe, the shuttles orbited less than three quarters of an inch above the surface proportionally!
• In the US the average height of 12 year old boys is 58.8 inches, and of 12 year old girls it is 59.6 inches (boys catch up later). This means that it would take 26,832,594.8 12 year old boys, head to foot, to span the whole equator. It would take 26,454,670.9 12 year old girls! The equator is about 24,901.46 miles long. Most of the kids would have wear life jackets, and half of them would be in the dark.

• If all the ice of the northern ice cap melts, that would be bad, but it would not raise the world's sea level. The melting of the ice over Antarctica and on Greenland DOES cause a rise in sea level, because that ice is on land, and the melt then flows to the oceans.
• If I dug a hole straight through the earth from where I live in the northeast US (OK, that's impossible-- I'm just sayin') I would NOT come out in China as people used to say. I would come out at the bottom of the Indian ocean, off the southwest coast of Australia. Do you know where you would come out? You would call that point your antipode.
