The rosette candle holders are shaped like Golf tees, with a pod for the candle to sit and a pointy end. The ends are often sharp because they come from plastic molds (frames that shape the product) at the manufacturer. When the mold is broken, each of the tees must be separated from each other, leaving sharp plastic along the borders. The rosettes can easily get pushed down into the cake, below the icing. This creates a risk of choking. If swallowed, the rosette "tee" could lodge anywhere in the digestive tract and could require surgery to remove the item(s). The risk for toddlers, young children, and even dogs is the same: swallowing, choking, or lodging risks.
