You can stop hydrocodone completely all at once -- you don't need to taper off. Detoxing will take 4-5 days, during which you'll experience symptoms like a bad flu -- no worse and no better. This is an easy detox compared to alcohol or barbituates, but it's nice to have an understanding body nearby. If your hydrocodone fixation results from a need for pain control, plan a way to manage pain while you're detoxing. This detox -- unlike others -- will not have permanent effects. If you can do the 4 or so days you'll be fine.

∙ 10y agoHydrocodone detox can be done treated in a drug rehab center with a synthetic opiate drug called Suboxone. The person can then be tapered off of the Suboxone in a matter of days and experience very little discomfort throughout the entire process.

∙ 13y agoopoid (hydrocodone, etc) withdrawl is worse than any other detox. litterallty, nothing around helps the pain of comming off them. nowaday's there's suboxone. it really works. unlike methadone, suboxone 'feels good' for about 2 weeks, and slowly fades away after about a month. after a while the pain goes away without staying high (as with methadone). it is the only real option for addicts rthat really works.
