Those listed below aren't really stereotypes of Jewish people. They are myths about Jewish people. Common stereotypes of Jewish people include: big nose, curly hair, good with money, rich, stingy, often saying Yiddish phrases.
Most, if not all, of the following lies have been created and perpetuated by anti-Semitic bigots.
Myth-The Jews killed Jesus.
Truth: The Romans killed Jesus. The Jews merely turned him over to the Romans as a criminal.
Myth-The Jews are greedy.
Truth: Though not all Jews follow them, Jewish laws order that the Jews give 10-20% of their income to charitable causes.
It is important to note that Jewish people were restricted from most jobs due to antisemitism, which led to a large number of them becoming merchants and bankers. Due to the nature of the business, one would have to seem "greedy" to become successful in such a job. Because of this history in banking, a few of the richest families in the world are Jewish.
Myth-The Holocaust did not actually happen.
Truth: During the holocaust, Hitler and his armies killed 6 million (6,000,000) unarmed Jews and 5 million (5,000,000) others.
Myth-The Jews are responsible for most or all of the wars in the world.
Truth: Many wars have been caused by people hating and oppressing the Jews; most other wars have nothing to do with Jews.
Myth-The Jews poisoned wells.
Truth: This old, medieval belief has no more credibility than the belief that the world is flat. The Jews themselves needed the wells for drinking-water, the same as everyone else.
Myth-The Jews eat or drink blood.
Truth: The Jewish religion prohibits the consuming of even one drop of blood.

∙ 14y agoInteresting question. I almost answered this but I really have to say....racism is continued and passed down by seemingly innocent questions like this. We have to stop seeing a difference in one another just because of skin color. Take the skin away and we are all the same.

∙ 13y agoPeople think Jewish people are tight, and won't spend much money. The stereo-typical Jew generally wears a black skull cap, and often a shawl. These are wrong: they only wear the shawl when praying and they will spend money (generally). I hope this answers your question.

The same goes for traditional stereotypes of Blacks, for example. Many people consider Jews in general to be smart, industrious, optimistic and perseverant.
