What are some of the problems with trash disposal?

Answer:
In the 1960's solid waste used to be burned in a sanitary landfill disposal sites. However, the huge problems that ran into burning solid waste was the fact that the landfill had to be in a safe place where it couldn't contaminate any near by streams, water,or rivers. Sometimes liners would of to be placed on the landfill so that there were no leaks. So communities would put dirt on top of the landfill and then grow grass on it and turn it into a park, however nothing usually would grow on this because there aren't enough nutrients for plants to grow.
Another form of trash disposal was burying solid waste but this is very unsafe because, the water from the trash would link into near by streams or other environments which then would contaminate it because the chemicals in the water are very unsafe and it is very expensive to bury the solid waste.
