What are some opinions about which is a better repair manual Haynes or Chilton?

Answer:
That is mostly a matter of personal preference. Both manuals contain a lot of useful and important information.
My personal opinion is that Chilton's manuals tend to be very technical in nature and geared towards experienced mechanics, whereas Haynes manuals tend to lean more towards teaching inexperienced people or do-it-yourselfers how to perform maintenance and repairs on their vehicles. I would want to see a Chilton's library in my $100/hour mechanic's shop, but my personal library would be mostly Haynes and I would recommend a Haynes manual to anyone who doesn't know how to change a spark plug or tire and wants to learn how to.
