There is the are Coelacanths. These are fish that were thought to be extinct for several million years. Then in the late 1930's zoologists found out that living coelacanths were being caught by local fishermen off the south east coast of Africa and around Madagascar. In 1999 it was discovered that the natives of Indonesia have been regularly catching and eating these fish for quite some time. Oops I guess they were classified extinct a little too quickly.
Also there is the Lingula it is some kind of marine animal [brachiopod] that scientists say is really old.
There is the Horseshoe Crab. It hasn't changed in 350 million years, and is called a living fossil.
Answer 3
History is the record of people. Written records only go back a few thousand years. Animals evolve very slowly, separating into different species over tens of thousands, or millions of years. Therefore, virtually all existing animal species existed before recorded history. Every animal you see is a member of a prehistoric animal specie.
Some people use the word prehistoric to mean something that only existed before history, but using that meaning, your question would be the same as asking if any extinct animals are not extinct.
