PROS: * It provides a way to relieve extreme pain * It provides a way of relief when a person's quality of life is low * Frees up medical funds to help other people * It is another case of freedom of choice CONS: * Euthanasia devalues human life * Euthanasia can become a means of health care cost containment * Physicians and other medical care people should not be involved in directly causing death * There is a "slippery slope" effect that has occurred where euthanasia has been first been legalized for only

the terminally ill and later laws are changed to allow it for other people or to be done non-voluntarily.

I have this for a debate topic at school. I am partially against it if it is inhumane but if the animal is suffering then I suppose it's okay. Here is what I found in my research: Well, first, the decision to end life is hard. It can make you feel like you betrayed your dogs trust and feel you murdered your pet. We shouldn't be the deciders of life and death. EVERYTHING happens for a reason. There is always a chance. Some shelters euthanize dogs merely because there is not enough space. When you have your do euthanized, it is a shot and is painless but that is not always the case. At some shelters they use gas chambers, guns (for large animals) and even neck ringing (rabbits) those are simply inhumane and unexceptable. My dog is from a shelter and if we hadn't gotten him and he had been there for awhile, he likely would have been euthanized FOR NO REASON OTHER THAN SPACE! I hope these help. It is hard for me not to cry while thinking about this.

  • Euthanasia is the act or practice of ending the life of a person either by lethal injection or the suspension of medical treatment. Because of this, many view euthanasia as simply bringing relief by alleviating pain and suffering. The word has also been applied to situations when a decision is made to refrain from exercising "heroic" measures in an end-of-life situation.
  • The positive effect of euthanasia is that the person affected by it will be relieved from pain and/or suffering.
  • The negative effects of euthanasia is that no one knows what is in future. You may succeed to be recovered from pain and suffering. So, you lose your life without a reason. The second negative effect is that euthanasia is like committing suicide; something that is sinful in all God religions.
