What are some quality control procedures used in Barbie doll testing?

Answer:
There was an article in the Aug. 9, 1993, issue of People magazine entitled "Barbie bashing." It was about Mattel quality control tester Judy Rogers, who tested the hair for strength and durability. "...she also yanks Barbie's limbs, pours sand on her, burns her hair and bakes her in simulated sunlight," said the article.
According to the article, if a doll is deficient, it is smashed and sent to a landfill, or she is put in a vat to be melted down and recycled.
