Its just like a real trial, the lawers ask questions related to the case. You would be surprised, there are many highly competitive teams that are very good, many expect to go into law.(I compete for my high school, but this applies to College as well)

The person above was right, I just want to add in case you don't know. There are two types of questioning, direcr examination, and cross exmination. In direct examination, a lawer asks questions of his own witness. In cross, a lawer asks questions of opposinc council's witness (cross is the fun one, you get kinda yell at them sometimes)
