What are some reasons not to cheat on schoolwork or exams?

Answer:
Here are some specific reasons NOT to cheat on your work:
  • Cheating is illegal and morally wrong. Copying from a published work of writing is plagiarism, and authors can and will sue you for it. You will be caught eventually, and you could fail your class, get kicked out of school, or lose your job.
  • Doing things that you know are wrong degrades your morals, making it easier for you to do something wrong the next time. If you don't take care, you will end up as a really evil person who will do anything so long as he thinks it will give him something for free.
  • Copying from somebody else means you have not learned the skill yourself. When you need to know it - like when the teacher gives a test on the material! - you will not be able to do it, and will make a bad grade that is even worse than whatever you would have gotten if you had turned in your own work instead of copying in the first place.
  • People who let you copy their work are not honest, hard-working students themselves! Good students know how important it is to learn how to do the material, and they will tell you to do it yourself. The people who let you copy them are the people like yourself who do not know how to do it, so you never know if what you copy is right or not.
  • Cheaters always say "it isn't hurting anybody!" but they are wrong - cheating hurts them! Cheating only cheats the cheater.
