Public concern about global environmental problems has never been higher. The issues are constantly discussed, journalistically, privately, and politically. International conferences continue to be held.
Some actual change has been seen lately. Electric cars, formerly very rare, are increasingly coming onto the market and being sold. Gas mileage is taken much more seriously than it used to be. Wind powered electric generators are becoming much more widely used. More energy efficient lighting is being introduced, in the form of LED bulbs. More people are shopping with re-usable bags rather than single-use bags. Lots of things are being done in an effort to be less harmful to the environment. If this trend continues, who knows, the environment may yet be saved.
