Well, there must be some reason you are boyfriend and girlfriend. Which usually means there is something the two of you have in common. Which is always a good place to start conversations. What happened in school today? What is going on in the town? What sports events just took place or are coming up? When's the next dance, game, party, etc.

Try doing something different together. Get him to help you make cookies, or fix something.

Askk him about what he likes/thinks or about anything if he is talkative.
