What are some tips to good photography?

Answer:

The single best tip any photographer has ever been given is the classic SHOOT LOTS OF PICTURES.

There are a million books, most of them good, all of them useful. There are courses and seminars. There are museums of art and photography. There are mentors. In other words, there are so many sources of information that it is literally endless, and whether one aspires to the profession or just wants to take better pictures, the best advice always remains, SHOOT LOTS OF PICTURES.

Back in the day this advice was admittedly expensive, but with the advent of digital there really is no excuse not to SHOOT LOTS OF PICTURES. Today you can get an affordable memory card for your camera that holds many hundreds of images. You will run out of power several times before you run out of memory. Many digital cameras are completely pocket or pursable and can be carried at all times. You can SHOOT LOTS OF PICTURES and shoot and shoot, and upload to your computer and then comes the learning part: trying to figure out which of the hundreds of pictures are keepers. And even if you end up deleting the lot, you will have learned more than may be immediately obvious.
