For temperate climates, and allowing some genus names when there are no common names in English:

Ash, birch, cherry, dogwood, elm, fir, ginkgo, hickory, ironwood (sort of pushing it: there are a lot of unrelated ironwoods), juniper, koelreuteria or kalopanax (I know of no common names),. larch, maple, nothofagus (again, there isn't really a good common name), oak, plum, quince, Robinia (okay, black-locust is the common name), sassafras, toon, Ulmus (okay, that is elm) or Umbellularia (Orgeon-myrtle, not a true myrtle), Vitex (again, usually called chaste-tree), willow, Xanthoceras (yellow-horn, okay), yew, zelkova.

That's about the best I can do. Some of them are pushing it. Most of the lamer ones have either no common name or a rather contrived one in English: whether this is acceptable is up to you, really. These should all grow in much of the US if you want your own alphabetical arboretum.
