Suspensions are a heterogeneous mixture. Suspensions are made up of two components a disperse phase and the dispersion medium. The first is a solid and the second a fluid. Unlike colloids, suspensions are usually not meta-stable so will more rapidly settle and form two homogeneous phases (without some sort of force being applied to the system such as stirring).
