the main three gases in air are nitrogen, oxygen and inert gases

78% of air is made up of nitrogen, 21% is oxygen, just under 1% is argon and the remaining part is made up of other gases such as carbon dioxide and water vapour.

My vote would go to Oxygen, Hydrogen, and Nitrogen. The sun is composed of hydrogen, and provides the energy that makes the earth livable. It combines with oxygen to make water, and oxygen is the gas we breathe to stay alive. Nitrogen keeps us from being poisoned by too much oxygen, and forms the basis of fertilizer for plants to grow.
