The skin and its derivatives (sweat & oil glands, hair & nails) make up a very complex set of organs that serves a number of functions, mostly protective. Together these components make up the integumentary system (covering). The skin covers the entire body, has a surface area of 1.5-2.0 square meters, and weighs about 4 kg in the average adult. It is estimated that every square centimeter of the skin contains: 70 cm of blood vessels, 55 cm of nerves, 100 sweat glands, 15 oil glands, 230 sensory receptors, 1/2 million cells.
The epidermis, the dermis, and the hypodermis. The hypodermis is also called the subcutaneous layer, or the superficial fascia. It is really not considered as part of the skin and only used as a reference to the connection it has the the more internal structures like the deep fascia that covers the muscles.
Integumentary system is the skin, which itself is the largest organ in the body. The main two parts of skin are epithelial tissue and sucutenous layer(hypodermis). There are also some accessory structures like hair, nails and glands.

There are 3 accessory organs and 1 organ. The 3 accessory organs are nail, hair, and glands. The one organ in the integumentary system is skin.
Sorry about the previous answer. Anyways, you need the integumentary system since its a collection of organs. You need organs in your body to maintain a healthy environment. Hope this helped!
