Advantages normally come with disadvantages, especially being a marine biologist. The advantages are doing what you love best whether it is looking after animals or researching. you also travel around the world to exciting places to save endangered animals or species and have adventures in researching. You can have interaction with a variety of animals you have never seen or touched. The other great thing is that you can meet interesting and great friends.
The research could be a great example of an advantage: for some people love research and have a passion for animals so they do more research then anything else.

First define what "it" is. I'm an old geezer, 52 years old. I'll tell you what I told my daughter when she started college. Don't do anything for the money. Follow your bliss. If you want to Scuba around the world and research the ocean and waterways, I say go for it. Will you get rich at doing "it"? Probably not. But don't trade your life for a living.
