This is a broad question. But typically, the best plug wires are going to be what the manufacturer tells you to use. That means a wire that has a size of 7mm, with a solid core for stock style performance and engine life. However, if a street/strip performance is desired, then a wire with 8-10mm size and a spiral core for lower resistance and greater spark travel. AcDelco, MSD, and Bosch all supply superior products.
I agree completely with the above. If you have a mismatched combination that has no oem application, it's hard to go wrong with a good set of 8mm spiral core, silicone suppression wires with the appropriate boots for your distributor cap. They're overkill for any points application, and adequate for any high energy, street duty application. The larger wires, such as 8.8's, 9.0's, and 10.0's are required for race applications with a lot of electronics.
