Natural predators of the Leadbeater's Possum include eagles, hawks, owls and quolls.

The most common predator is the largest South-Eastern Australian Owl, the Powerful Owl - Ninox strenua. Other smaller owls also predate on Leadbeater's Possums, especially young joeys, and these owls include the Southern Boobook - Ninox novaeseelandiae, Barking Owl - Ninox convnivens or Sooty Owl - Tyto tenebricosa.

Introduced predators include foxes and feral cats.
