Advantages:

The advantages of private prisons is possibly more funding, if the private owner or company is backing it up, and is not subject to the state or national funding. More attention is also given to the prisoners, therefore a smaller chance of fighting or riots. There are also more specialized programs to help the prisoners build different skills.

Im not sure of any disadvantages, though.
