What are the advantages and disadvantages of co-education in India?

Answer:
Co-education (combined by gender) has always been a heated question, especially in India. The arguments for or against go an endlessly. But much of hue and cry raised prevents a sensible understanding of the matter.
MEN and WOMEN are of the same species. The two have always been together, even though the roles of the two genders have never been equally shared.
However, education should be fairly and equally offered regardless of gender. The idea that one has been created for the other, or is superior, is not reasonable.

EDUCATION is not just bookish knowledge. Social contact and understanding of the opposite sex is necessary for the growth of the mind. It makes people worldly wise, and only co-education can make this a real possibility.

The modern concept of equality between men and women has brought remarkable change in societies, as members of either sex still struggle to co-exist with those of the opposite sex. Societies need to bridge the gap, rather than simply understanding gender differences, the concept that "Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus.

Advantages:
  • under co-education, girls and boys are less shy of each other
  • co-education improves pupils' confidence to interact with the opposite gender
  • co-education pupils have more competitive minds than non coeducation pupils
  • co-education pupils are much more helpful to each other
  • co-education pupil form strong friendship bonds
