Wood can last hundreds of years. It can can be very versatile and give a beautiful finish when left exposed. Although exposure, if not treated right will lead to rot and unsightly deterioration. one must allow for the movement of wood. It contracts and shrinks depending on dampness and humidity, but so long as its used along side the right materials this is not problematic.

Woodworm can be the end if a timber framed house so it needs treating properly. Exterior wood will need painting or re staining every 5 years so that can be a drag. It can be high maintenance but you cant beat oak beams in the ceiling or old varnished floorboards.

answ2. Wood is a pleasant material for toys, and is rather good for small boats. The majority of furniture is still of wood because of its pleasant natural properties.

When timber is used in buildings, properly treated for the environment, then wood may out-perform masonry in seismic situations, and is superior in thermal properties.

Assuming you mean burning wood.

Wood in the form of trees is a limited resource, and they have many other uses that are preferable to energy production. Trees, environmentally, are a huge source of habitation for many animals. Wood can be used for construction purposes. Wood, when burned, produces gasses that are harmful to the environment the same or similar to coal and oil. Wood is more expensive to convert to heat than other sources like coal or oil due to its low relative heat content. These are a few disadvantages of using wood for energy production

I'm gonna put a few disadvantages in a list

1. Pollution. Burning things releases polluting gasses

2. Deforestation. Using a LOT of wood requires cutting down a lot of trees which can ruin the land, ruin animal habitats, and change climates

3. Energy loss due to heat. Whenever your energy source is heat, its very inefficient. A lot of the heat is lost into the surrounding environment. This is also why car engines are very inefficient.

Advantages:

- stops wastage and unnecessary expenses such as buying new timber when re-cycled timber is just as affective

- stops timber going into landfill and decomposing emitting methane gas into the environment

- can be created into many products such as particle board, MDF, mulch, animal bedding and compost

- an effective way of preserving the environment as it decreases the amount of timber required to be harvested

Disadvantages

- can decrease in quality

- whilst saving timber from being harvested, it many cases it doesn't save energy, as the process to re-use the timber uses energy e.g. turning planks of timber into mulch

- sometimes larger quantities of chemicals are needed to be used to re-cycle the timber e.g. re-cycling timber in paper
