What are the advantages and disadvantages of using video conference?

Video conferences help save money by allowing people to stay in their local area rather than traveling to another site for a big meeting (it saves money with hotels, flights, renting cars if needed, gas (which then results to saving carbon emissions from your trip). It helps people clear up their calendar for more time to work, instead of taking off 3 days to a week, you will only be occupied for the duration of the meeting rather than the time to get there too.

The disadvantages are that some people might not know how to operate video conference equipment. Although video conference equipment has a customer service side where you call them from the equipment and they'll help you, but that would also require some knowledge of how to do that. It can easily be solved by having written instructions. The other downside is that if you have (say over 10 people, all with different lines, meaning they are all calling in from different places), you might have to create a "bridge", this is a number that is created that everyone calls to so you don't "overload" your own phone line and will allow a faster connection than if you only used your own phone/ethernet line.
