Using a spreadsheet you can see all the data at once and when you change anydata all computations can be instantaneously updated with the change.
It is a place where you can organize your information. Also if you are using numbers, you can input eqautions to help run those numbers (ex. Excel).
you dont really have to any of the work because if you are finding out sums(working out) you can just drag it and it will bring up all of the other answers for you
They are faster to set up and allow easier copying and duplication for data with repetitive patterns

If you had ever used a paper spreadsheet in duplicate or triplicate, etc., you wouldn't have asked. In the old days, if you made one error, you would have to erase, whiteout or rewrite the spreadsheet and all the carbons or duplicates from the point of the error or in its entirety. With software you just correct the wrong entry and recalculate. I almost cried the first time I saw a computer program recalculate a spreadsheet after an error and display it in under 2 seconds in a sales demonstration (the year was 1983). Another advantage besides accuracy and editing is the ability to email and print copies.
