A statue done in 450BC by Myron is known as 'Discobus" and survives only in Roman copies. This statue shows a dramatic break from the archaic tradition of stiff, very frontal statues like the 'Kouros". Myron depicts an athelete in the midst of action, one can see the concentrated force and tension in the action. This piece is in a Transitional era of art, motion is depicted but in only one plane.
