Answer
The basic rules of basketball are pretty simple:
As long as your not retarded. However, if you are and you need my genius assistance then i am very willing to help. First, it helps to be tall, that way you can hold the ball in the air where noone can get it. Then if youre strong you can go around decking people. The idea is to take the ball to the hoop and score. You score by throwing the ball in the hoop. If you succeed in this you have a better chance of winning. Remember not to hit people too hard because if you do, the ref may call a foul. then you may need to knock him out. Ive knocked out many a ref in my day. Not always on purpose but mostly because they threw me out of the game. Remember that sportsmanship is good but not important. As long as you look good nothing else matters(even at the expense of your team mates). Winning is the ultimate goal, if you aint first your last. nobody wants to be a loser. So dont be one. I tell people that every day and look at me, im so cool i can go around beating 4 year olds and feel good about it. Remember, even if you have to be a jerk about it just get the ball! If you have the ball then your in control and being in control is good. The objective of the game is to score more baskets in the correct hoop than the other team before time runs out. Every time you make a basket, you score two points, uncless you are on the free-throw line, which then you will get only one point for each basket you make. In basketball, you must dribble the ball on the floor without accidentally double-dribbling. Double-dribbling is actually when you are dribbling the ball, stop, and then begin dribbling again. This is strictly prohibited. However, if you do stop, you are allowed to pivot on one foot, and pass it to another team member or attempt to make a good shot. Also, you must know not to just carry the ball from one place to another without dribbling. There are two ways to pass the ball to other team members. One way is called the bounce pass, which is a strong once-bouncing-on-the-floor throw to a team member. The other kind of pass is called the chest pass, in which you throw the ball (without making it touch the ground) to a team member at exact chest level. Another thing you should probably know is that your team might be on offense, or defense. Each team's phase will change during the game continuosly. When your team is on offense, that means that your team is currently in hold of the ball. At this point, the other team will be guarding your team members. If you are on defense, this means that the other team is in hold of the ball, and you must be trying to guard them. Also, just to inform you, you'll probably have different positions throughout the game, but that is up to your coach. Plus, keep in mind that you must be open and ready, (trying to break free from your opponent that is guarding you) to recieve the ball if you are on offense. In basketball, if someone from your team throws the ball out-of-bounds, (which is the very outer part of the court), your team will lose permission of the ball, and it will be handed to the other team.
Well that is pretty much the "basic" rules of basketball in my words. I hope you now have a better understanding of basketball.
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!
