A baptist church believes that Jesus is the Son of God and that by asking him into your heart. You don't have to pray out loud, and you don't have to be perfect, because no one is.You could have even murdered someone, but God will forgive you if you tell him you are sorry. If you ask him into your heart, you will feel a great peace. If you feel no peace, then you either did not mean it,or you have traveled so far into your disobedience that you leave no room in your heart left for God.

As a lifelong Baptist, I'll try to help answer this question: Baptists believe that Jesus is the Savior. Baptists believe that Jesus is God's Son. Baptists believe that Jesus died for our sins and made atonement for them so that we are free from the fear of eternal death (in hell) as long as we give our lives to Jesus and accept Him as our Savior. Read John 3:16 in The Bible. Most Baptists believe that once you are "saved" (have given your life to God) then you are always saved. Baptists believe that everyone is a sinner and can only be saved by the grace and mercy of our Savior Jesus, who laid down His life for us on the cross. These are the beliefs I hold as a Baptist Christian, but you can do a more thorough search and look at the About Us pages of several Baptist church websites to get a feel for what they believe. Note: Beware the Landover Baptist website. It is apparently a spoof (at least I would hope so!)

Baptists try to follow the example of New Testament churches described in the letters of Paul in the Bible and to apply as much of the Bible in their daily lives. Salvation is key to the tenets of the Baptist's faith.

God made man.

Man sinned which separated him from God.

God sent his Son Jesus Christ to the world to be a sacrifice for man's sin.

All it takes to reunite yourself with God is to confess your sins, profess your faith in Jesus Christ and to accept the gift that God has provided.

To find out more about what Baptists believe a classic book by Herschel Hobbs on What Baptists Believe should fill in any gaps.

One thing that distinguishes the Baptist Church beliefs is that they do not believe in all of the sacraments. They do however participate in Baptism and communion. They believe that these come form the bible.

Let me recommend a book called "What Baptists Believe" by a Baptist Minister from the 1950-1960's Herschel Hobbs.

In brief baptists believe that salvation is available and limited to anyone that accepts Jesus of Nazareth as their Savior, that He was virgin born and the only Son of God the Father and Creator of the Universe. The Holy Spirit is the current manifestation of God on Earth and calls all of the human race to God.

If a person accepts Jesus as Savior then they are set apart and should dedicate themselves to serving God through following Jesus' examples in the Bible.
