What are the benefits of a socialist system?

Answer:
In a socialist system, the government can act without getting all sorts of permissions and having all sorts of hearings.
When a hurricane came to New Orleans people had the right to stay or leave. Thousands lost their lives. When a hurricane came to Cuba, all had to leave. Not a single life was lost. No hearings were held. No judge was consulted. No ACLU lawyer had an opportunity to challenge the ruling.

In America Cell Phones have all sorts of differences. In Europe they meet a particular standard. Socialism can set a standard and enforce it without a single court hearing. Socialism can insist on interoperability.

Socialism has phased in the metric system and done away with a lot of inefficiencies. America uses metric thread for electric bolts and different size thread for other bolts. American mechanics need different sets of tools for different cars. In other countries they do not. They can say, "If you Americans want to make cars for us, you will make them to our standards."

A socialist system helps with medicine. Every child needs the same vaccines. It is far easier to simply line them up and have them go down the line to get their shots than use a separate visit to a physician. It is easier to say "Every physician will hook into a central computer system," than to say, "Wouldn't it be a good idea if all medical records went on line? Why don't we look into it?"

Thus, the benefits of a socialist system come when they involve things that concern a large part of the population. A socialist system can create standards and get things moving a lot faster than can a number of private businesses pulling in different directions each creating a slightly different standard. A socialist system can enable a government to operate in an emergency.
