Muslims do their normal duties and committments during fasting as in normal non fasting days. However, they get the capacity and efficiency to do it because of their strong faith in Allah (God in English and same God worshiped by Jews and Christians). Fasting per Islam rules means that for the Muslim adult, sane, healthy he/she is required to fast from dawn (first light) to sunset every day in the month of Ramadan (or voluntarly on other days of the year). Muslim fasting involves refraining from eating, drinking, smoking, and marital intercourse during the daylight hours. There are numerous health as well as spiritual benefits to Islamic fasting.
