A classic is simply a book that stands to the test of time. It was read by our grandparents and will most likely be read by our grandchildren. They are read, studied, and enjoyed by a very diverse group of people. They usually have some message that helps us relate to them, but sometimes they are just a great story. Some examples of classics are Oliver Twist, Treasure Island, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Grapes of Wrath, The Seagull, Wuthering Heights, and Lord of the Flies.
