What is the best topical solution for herpes outbreaks?

Taking Echinacea capsules 400 mg each for 4 capsules spaced 4 hours apart 3 times daily while I'm up each day working and doing my daily routine boosts my immune system enough to help it suppress herpes outbreaks. The added benefit of taking Echinacea so much is I rarely come down with ANY flu like off work days and my stamina for long work days seems to be increased from what it was before starting this health routine. I've been taking this regimen of Echinacea for over 7 years with my scheduled 14 day breaks off of it every 8 week cycle (during the break time I boost my intake of Zinc, Vitamin C and Lysine to prevent a outbreak until I return to normal Echinacea intake). But it is critical to take a break from consuming Echinacea every 8 weeks or the body becomes 'use to it' for lack of a better term and it will stop working for you in defending your health against the virus. Reducing to a minimum all intake of the amino acid arginine which is in chocolate, coffee, etc. helps since that amino acid causes the herpes virus to flourish and reproduce. When I am feeling run down and/or already have a outbreak I take on a empty stomach with only water 2 - 500 mg capsules of the amino acid Lysine. Lysine disrupts the reproducing cycle of the virus so it can't grow or reproduce in your bloodstream. Chicken is high in lysine so do eat it when you can. If you run out of echinacea take some zinc but be aware of the fact it is only somewhat helpful. Generally it doesn't seem as strong in helping as Echinacea is but it is better than nothing. I have had herpes since 1985 (this post is dated from August 2012) and for a time took Valtrex as a prescription suppressant of the virus but had to quit because I could no longer afford it at $300 per bottle. Plus Valtrex only did 1 health benefit for my body whereas the echinacea does help with at least 4 health benefits with resisting herpes outbreaks thereby preventing them, cold/flu prevention &/or minimization of symptoms, increases my stamina for long work days, keeps my sinuses clear 90% of every month and doesn't require payment of a doctor's office visit or scheduling time off of work for a doctor's office visit either. Try L-Lysine. Although the initial disease (herpes) is supposed to be incurable, I don't believe this is true. I managed to cure is using Colloidal Silver. You posted this under 'alternative medicine' and so I thought I would give you the answer of the quickly-growing holistic community.

You can try things like Aloe vera and tea tree oil, also soaking in epsom salts baths can help relieve the symptoms. But the best thing for herpes is to keep it clean and dry to help promote faster healing.
