The black spots on a potato is the place where it is a little soft and a bit rough. That is the sweetest part of the potato. It means that your able to cokk it. If there aren't any black spots than it is a potato that is not ripe.
Internal Black Spot causes a large black area inside of a potato, usually in the center. Dry growing conditions is usually what causes this problem. The areas free of black spot are safe to eat.
Or The potatoes could be rotting and not safe to eat.
Don't know but we have a bagful of them. They can be cut out but it sure reduces the size of the potato.
