The duties of the Catholic Church are to proclaim the teachings of Christ found in Scripture and Sacred Tradition and in doing so lead all people to know Christ and to be with him in heaven for all eternity.

The main responsibility of a cardinal is to elect a new pope. However, most cardinals also work in various other capacities in the Church. Some work in the Roman Curia and others are bishops or Archbishops.
