There are many causes of there being street children: Poverty, Neglect, Disease, War, Famine, Social or Civil Unrest, Family Breakups, Becoming Orphaned. etc.
From another of perspective on the word "causes", the causes they or others on their behalf fight for are to tackle the reasons that they become street children in the first instance and to provide ways out of their problems through things like providing shelter and education, re-uniting them with their families, finding foster or adoptive families for them etc.

∙ 9y agoChildren often turn to the streets because of child abuse or neglect. Some are wayward and run away, like if they want to do a lot of drugs or have a lot of sex at an early age. Sometimes they are thrown out of the house or become separated from their family during times of poverty.
