This is not a complete list by any means but at least here are the worst problems that could potentially lead to death(definitions not included): Liver failure, cirrhosis of the liver, jaundice(often related to hepatitis), hepatitis (A, B, C, and E, but D is not considered a major problem), and cancer. Due to the fact that the liver can actually regenerate, or heal itself, when symptoms of any of these diseases are present that means that the disease is in its advanced stages.

Hepatitis and other diseases of the liver can have several effects : * Higher blood levels of bilirubin (from metabolized red blood cells) * Higher blood levels of insulin * Reduced production of plasma proteins * Reduced production of bile for digestion * Reduced production of clotting agents * Reduced removal of toxic substances from the blood (and the body) * Reduced hormone production * Reduced glycogen and cholesterol synthesis Basically, the liver's functions are essential to the body, and cannot be artificially provided.

If there are problems in the Liver, the production of Bile is affected. Thus the digestion of fats can be affected and there will be no filter for the body when taking medications and food. Toxins will build up in the body eventually poisoning other vital organs.
