Japan has changed a lot, since there is no more Shogunate anymore, they used to have death penalties including swaing the body in half and also boiling a person to death.

Plus back when there were samurais they could test out their katana (Japanese sword) on anyone that wasn't important, if they killed someone important or commited a very bad crime that would have to commit Seppuku which is a type of suicide when the stap them selves in the gut with their katana.

Hope I answered you question :D

Japan has influenced the world in alot of things. I'll list the ones that come off the top of my head:

Architecture (Japan's beautiful temples are a great example)

Video-gaming (Most of the games in the world are made by

Japanese companies)

Nintendo (Yes, Nintendo started as a Japanese playing-cards making company)

Anime (Animations, with the cute big eyes and big heads. No, not like Tom and Jerry)

Mangas (Comics, but in Black and White. Yes, Japan practically invented that term)

Culture (Geishas, Marial Arts, etc.)

Music (ever hear that violin-type of instruments in some Japan's Folk Music? : p)

Launguage ( Many English words are the same as Japanese words)

Hoped this helped!
