you really gotta pay attention to someone's problem, a counselor should never try to discourage someone and just say "it'll be okay, I'm here to help." A counselor has to really give advices and ask questions that aren't actually kind of stupid like "so why are you upset?" it'll really tick the person off when she/he just explained the problem. you gotta be friendly and nice and not scary nice like your trying too hard. Loosen up when you're handling with teenagers, but not be all like "oh, what's cracking dawg." Take notes and don't just nod and nod and nod everytime someone say's something. Respectful, has good boundrys when working with clients, professional, trustworthy, nonjudgemental, resources full, good listener, knowledgeable,relaxed and corelated.
