That answer is incorrect. Cherokee tribe inhabited what is now eastern Tennessee, northern Georgia, and mountain areas of North Carolina. The Cherokee tribe was removed from this area in the 1830's to what is now Oklahoma.

A small band of Cherokee still remain in North Carolina.

The name Cherokee is from white settlers. the actual name of the Cherokee people is Tsa-La-Gi.
