it is more expensive and you have less of a variety to choose from. Stores like Wegamans have a variety of organic food though. Since organic produce doesn't contain chemicals and stabilizers, it spoils more quickly. It also may appear "uglier" (asymmetrical, not shiny or waxy, dirty). "Organic" food is grown with manure as fertilizer. Manure contains E coli bacteria, which can be a deadly pathogen when consumed by humans. The 2006 outbreaks of E coli in 26 US states, which killed 3 people and made hundreds ill, was caused by E coli contamination of "organic" spinach. By contrast, there has never been a reported case of human death due to injestion of pesticide residues on retail food products. Pesticide residue is the main complaint that "organic" growers and consumers have against non-"organic" foods. But it's far less deadly than the manure the "organic" growers use to fertlize their crops. Furthermore, because "organic" growers can't use commercial fertilizers and pesticides, their yields are generally far lower than that of conventional farmers. That means more land is required to produce a given amount of food. This is a tremendous waste of a scarce resource (arable land). (Note that, whenever I use the word "organic" above, it is always in quotation marks. That is because the word "organic", as used here, is a false label. The ACTUAL definition of "organic" is "containing carbon". ALL food (except salt, if you call that food) contains carbon, and is therefore organic. But certain food producers have stolen the word and used it for their own purposes, to describe something totally different. And the USDA has gone along with them, making it illegal for non-"organic" food producers to use the word "organic", even though it is 100% accurate for any food product except salt.)

Organic food is generally pesidide-free and healthy. The negative side of organic food is that it is more labor intentive to grow and that results in higher cost to the consumer, so it costs alot of money.

The pros of eating organic foods is you are eliminating most of the chemicals and pesticides from your diet. The cons are the fresh food is not always available, and can tend to cost more.

Organic food is more expensive and must be grown under very specific conditions. No pesticides or chemicals can be used on truly organic foods. Quantities of organic food are often limited.

The labor in growing organic food is more intensive than growing non-organic food, so organic costs more. Organic food is hard to get in some rural areas.

One disadvantage is that some processed organic foods may not store as long because they do not contain the preservatives and additives that inorganic foods do. Bread would be one example.

Is there a website where you can view the good and bad sides of organic and non-organic food next to each other?

Maybe but i have written a piece on that and here it is i hope it is of good use 1. Organic food is the best type of food for many reasons. The food does not have as many pesticides as non-organic food this means that it is less harmful for humans, plants and animals. Also two of the pesticides that are used are natural pesticides. Organic food tastes much better than non-organic foods. Organic foods use pesticides on only one crop. However Non-organic foods use pesticides on all of their crops. Organic foods are looked after much better as they have to be grown in a certain way. Also more people are employed to look after the crops and animals. The organic crops are assessed to see if they are okay to be organic; however the non-organic crops are not and are just sold without checking. Organic food is 'natural' this is because it does not include as many chemicals or pesticides. Organic food is a lot more expensive than Non-organic foods. It also does not last as long because it has not got any preservatives in them. This is bad because you would have to through the food earlier than Non- organic food. The products have to go very far before they reach the stores so this would be bad for global warming as it is creating pollution for every lorry to deliver the organic foods to the stores. Organic food is also 20% less productive than Non-organic food.

Is organic food bad for us?

Organic food is safer, healthier, and tastier than conventionally grown food. They are produced through farming practices that only use natural substances. This means avoiding all artificial chemicals, hormones, antibiotics, and GMOs. Highly processed organic food can still be low in nutrients and high in added fat, sugar, and calories.
