In theory, there is no disadvantages to wearing a Hijab. It is a form of religious freedom which we are all granted in the United States. The only disadvantage comes from the uneducated people who are not familiar with Islam. Without being familiar with the religion, they tend to judge. But the disadvantage is for the people who discriminate those who wear the Hijab, not the actual person who wears it.

It is a sin and its consequences are as any other sin. Only the All-Merciful God knows. He may punish on sin commitment, forgive per his mercy if one repents, or whatever He decides per His will.
Modesty is the major significance of the hijab. Many people think that Muslim women wear the hijab just a symbol to show that they are Muslims, but this is not the reason to wear the hijab.. wearin the hijab means we should guard ourself by being modes, not revealing much from our body and not seek so much attention. Hijab does not only mean cover the hair, but also to wear clothes that are not tight or transparent or that reveal other parts of the body except for hand and face.. it is seen that those who reveal inapproprite parts of the body is seeking attention in contrast to modesty. there are however many other ways to look at the hijab... some women believe by wearing the hijab they become more of an equal to males, as they are not dealt with based on their physical appearance and beauty, but rather for how they think and their actions. some wear hijab because they choose to and strongly believe in it's importance in Islam, while others are forced to wear it from their parents...
You cannot tell if someone is a Muslim unless you see a woman wearing a "hijab" or somebody holding the Qur'an. Most likely a man keeping his head down is Muslim.

That cloth should not be so tight to describe the woman body or sexy parts, andshould not be so transparent to make the under cloth visible. In addition to the fact that wearing hijab is an Islamic requirement and is a command by God and Prophet Mohamed (peace upon him), the following are some reasons and benefits that a Muslim woman gain by wearing hijab and Islamic clothing:Men would not judge the woman by her appearance but would tend to evaluate her by her personality, character, and morals.Wearing a hijab helps in preventing indecent acts or thoughts. When wearing a hijab, one feels more modest, having more self respect and confidence.People actually evaluate the one wearing the Hijab based on who she is and not on how beautiful she is.by wearing hijab, one doesn't worry about her my hair if not beautiful or needs more cosmetics.Hijab provides Muslims with an identity. Those who see hijab-wearing as a problem usually see the issue as being one of the historic objectification of women and the obfuscation of their identities. The argument is that the hijab represents the type of clothing that was used by men to weaken the place of women and force them into submission. The ideology behind the hijab, e.g. that the hijab prevents the man from lusting after the woman, is also reminiscent of this era. The idea that the woman is responsible for the man's sexual urges improperly makes the man irresponsible for his own conduct.
No it is not Under the shariah all women would have to wear hijab ____________________________________________ In addition to the above, hijab is originally required also by Judaism and Christianity religion but altered later by their religious leaders. Generally, it is not a sin. However, it depends on your daughter age. If your daughter is still in her childhood age, then she should live her age and enjoy it. she should not feel that she is isolated from her similar age school mates or neighbors because of wearing hijab during her childhood period. The religion requirement is that when she reaches puberty, she should wear hijab. By then or few month before, you should learn her how to wear hijab and to explain to her the reasons behind wearing hijab for her to feel convinced and proud of what she is doing.
